José Antonio Oliva was born in Havana, Cuba in 1965. He is a self trained artist – his works a blend of surrealism and expressionism. Between 1990 and 2010 he held seven solo exhibitions, the most recent being “Memoria de Gallos” Casa de la Poesí in Havana and Gallardia Artnova -Gallery, Miami in 2009.
He is currently exhibiting his paintings with artist Ronald Espinosa in a small gallery in Old Havana.
He has participated in 30 collective art exhibits in Cuba and overseas including “Puertas al mundo” Galeria Las Bóvedas, Plaza de Francia, Panama, 2008 and “Reflections of Cuba” City Art Gallery Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2010.
José A. Oliva’s works of art can be found in the network of galleries of the Cuban Cultural Fund. Many more works can be found in the possession of private collectors from countries such as Mexico, Canada, the United States, Bahamas and Malaysia, etc.
